Customer Service Appreciation Week Tips

October 8, 2008

Below are some ideas that can be easily incorporated into customer service appreciation week celebrations:

Create the right atmosphere
In advance of the official customer service appreciation week, be sure to decorate the Customer Service department and entire company with balloons and posters that generate excitement for the coming celebrations.

Host festive parties
Everyone loves a party and some recognition, so why not invite senior management to make a few remarks to the customer service reps at a customer service appreciation week kick off party?  A special catered lunch or dinner out of the office is a great way to end the week.

Blow your own horn
Show the rest of the company just how great the customer service team is, and give them a glimpse of the types of issues they deal with on a daily basis.  Share information about the amount of calls handled in a week, the financial savings and benefits of cross-selling and positive customer feedback survey results.

Acknowledge other departments
Are there other departments that interface with your company’s customers?  During customer service appreciation week, show those individuals that the customer service reps appreciate others who contribute to serving customer needs.

Build activities around a theme
Consider a theme to use as part of customer service appreciation week and then incorporate it into all events and materials.

Thank your customers
Let your customers know that your customer service department appreciates the relationships they’ve built over the years. Send a team photo with hand-written note and include your mission statement as part of customer service appreciation week.

Reward your reps
Thank your representatives for their valuable contributions with certificates, awards and special gifts.  Maybe place a gift at their workstation each morning during customer service appreciation week.

Reduce stress
Host a stress relief break during customer service appreciation week. Ask customer service reps to share ideas for reducing stress, review deep-breathing techniques and provide hands-on tools to recharge and refresh.

Have fun
Games and contests of all kinds are great for relieving stress and building teamwork in your customer service department. Plan an activity for each day and be sure to award prizes to everyone.
