Doing it Daily with Recognition Ecard Program

Smaller, frequent acts of expression have a great potential to motivate, engage and retain your staff. It’s quite easy to do: all it takes is a sincere, meaningful message of appreciation. We’ve found the best way to do this is through handwritten notes, but that’s not always an option if you have multiple locations or offsite workers. Of course, everyone loves to receive snail mail, but when time is of the essence, a faster option is important to have.

Lots of companies are turning to recognition ecard programs to encourage peer to peer recognition within their organizations. Ecards are a simple and quick way to deliver instant recognition to an employee or peer. It’s also a great tool to help you do it daily.

Ecards should be used in addition to a regular recognition program, and not mistaken as a substitute for one. Individuals desire recognition in a variety of methods, and recognizing everyone – regardless of the situation or behavior – with a similar ecard will quickly have a negative impact on staff.

To get the most motivation out of a recognition ecard program, use it sporadically in addition to other forms of recognition and rewards. Be sure to include some tangible recognition items; give staff something to proudly display…your John Hancock! Your handwritten note and signature sends a powerful message to the recipient.

If you already have a peer recognition program or day-to-day recognition program established at your organization, take measures to ensure that the different programs don’t compete with each other. Be clear about the expectations and create a goals and incentives to encourage program participation. For example, establish a goal to send 200 ecards and have 90% participation in the peer recognition program each month. If the staff achieves both goals during the month, they receive a reward!
