Does anyone else get really excited when the company picnic invite pops up in their email? At Baudville, our company picnic generally means good food and a good time with our work family and our family-family! Our loved ones get to meet all the cool people we work with and the cool people we work with get to meet our loved ones. The entire company looks forward to it every year.

There’s always this sense of closeness after an office picnic, or maybe we should call it “a chance to mingle outside of work” event instead – since that’s what it is.

If you’re not sold on good food and a good time yet, here are 3 reasons why you should have a company picnic.

3 Reasons Why You Should Have a Company Picnic

1. Company Picnics Promote Workplace Friendships

Work is better with a best friend. Inc. reported that work is better with a best friend with findings from a survey done by O.C. Tanner. They discovered

72% of employees with a best friend at work were more satisfied with their job than compared to 54% of employees who didn’t claim to have a best friend.

One way to help foster those friendships is by hosting events outside of work, like a company picnic!

2. Company Picnics Boost Employee Engagement

Not only does a company picnic encourage employee friendships, but it helps employees feel appreciated. Giving your staff (and their families) a fun night out is a great way to remind them that they matter. Feelings of appreciation help employees to be engaged and more productive in their daily roles. That’s a good thing for companies since “highly engaged teams show 21% greater profitability” according to Gallup via Forbes.

3. Company Picnics Are Fun

Does this really need to be explained further? Companies should always strive to create a culture people want to be part of. People should have the occasional fun at work. If you disagree with this, then why are you even on this site?!
