8 Little Ways To De-Stress
Listen, life is tough. But, so are you.
1. Take D E E P breaths
Honestly, you'd be surprised at how often we find ourselves simply needing to be reminded to just breathe. Pay attention to how you feel right now: do you need to lower your shoulders? Unclench your jaw? Take deep breaths? We bet.
To reset, simply breathe s l o w l y in through your nose to the count of four, and then exhale through your mouth to the count of five. Repeat until you feel recentered. And repeat as often as needed to settle your mind.
2. To Do Lists
As daunting as it can be, just knowing what it is exactly that you need to accomplish is step one to making any progress at all. Break it out into small, achievable goals (step one of ours is always writing a to do list) that will build until you've accomplished everything you need to do.
Nothing is better than the feeling of ticking off a to do list. So add a couple of 'freebies' to get those good vibes flowing and get you feeling ready to kick it into gear!

Helpful hint: use timers to keep yourself on track. Set a 20 minute timer to put your head down and focus on the task at hand. Then, reward yourself with a 7 minute break to scroll your phone or make a snack.
We know you're picturing sitting cross-legged while a Tibetan monk chants in your ear and a waterfall thunders nearby. And if you have access to that, we highly recommend. But, you can meditate for as long or as quickly as your day allows: we've even found these one-minute visualization techniques that help us to reset!
These are perfect for doing at your desk or at home - they're quick, subtle, and help you to get your head back in a good place to stay relaxed and productive.
4. Clear Communicating At Home
Working from home can be hard - especially if your coworkers (ahem pets/kids/spouses/roommates) don't exist on the same schedule as you do.
Communicate your availability with your people and let them know when you've got a busy day, when you're in a meeting, or when you just need some quiet. It'll make the whole day more enjoyable for everyone.
5. Use Your Resources
There are so many free and available options for mindfulness and de-stressing at home! YouTube, Podcasts, Spotify playlists and more are available and absolutely help us to stay reset and focused.

6. Get Some Fresh Air
Feeling overwhelmed? Creatively stuck? Take 10 minutes to just get some fresh air. While this does work best when it's nice out, it's just as effective if it's cold out. Whether you stand on the porch for 10 minutes, throw the ball for the dog, or take a loop around the block. All you have to do is get some fresh air up your nose and we promise that your brain will thank you for it.
7. Add Some Green (Plants)
Studies have proven that green plants improve your mood. Add some green to your space (and purify your oxygen) and we'll guarantee a happier environment.
Helpful hint: you can grow your own sprouts with our appreciation plant cubes. Looking for an instant-fix? Most local hardware stores have garden centers with ready-to-go plants.
Our lives pretty much revolve around screens, especially these days. Whether you're working from home and zooming your colleagues, video-calling your friends to stay distant, or simply spending a little too much time scrolling before you roll out of bed in the morning, it's hard to separate.
We've found that enforcing some stricter guidelines to our screen time does wonders for de-stressing.
Helpful hint: you can set bedtime reminders on your phone that encourage you to put it away before climbing into bed. Spend the last 20 minutes reading instead! It helps your mind to relax and makes for an easier sleep.
