Prep for Employee Appreciation Day

January 27, 2022 Scott Gillis

Most work weeks are focused on business objectives, decisions from management, or customer issues. Employee Appreciation Day, on the other hand, is a special day that should be truly centered around the teams of employees that make things happen every single day. Companies have nothing to lose and so much to gain by making the effort to show employees appreciation and recognize their hard work and efforts. This Forbes article said it best: "Why aren't we celebrating great accomplishments more often in the one place where average people are achieving great things every single day- at the office?" (source). This is a great question that is posed and Employee Appreciation Day is the best time to celebrate those accomplishments.

If you haven’t already, now’s the perfect time to start planning how you will show your employees they’re extra appreciated! Looking for ideas? You’ve come to the right place! In preparation for Employee Appreciation Day on March 4th, below are the 5 best activities to make part of your EAD festivities:

1. Offer in a meditation session

Meditation is a great way to reduce stress. Bring in an expert to guide your employees, or host a recorded meditation for anyone who wants to participate in a quiet, dim room.

2. Cater a special breakfast or lunch

Bring your employees together on Employee Appreciation Day and give them fuel for their busy day, by supplying healthy breakfasts or lunches for the whole company.

3. Engage in team games

Play games like mini golf, ping pong or team-based trivia. This can be a great opportunity for staff who do not normally work together, to get to know each other better in a fun setting while introducing healthy competition and encouraging innovative thinking.

4. Give them creative outlets

Introduce your employees to some fun hobbies with a workshop on drawing, flower arrangement, or adult coloring books.

5. Hand out fun gifts

Give your employees something fun to look forward to all week by leaving quirky, fun, or useful gifts on their desks before they arrive. Try some of our best options below to bring the smiles out and let the appreciation shine.

Bamboo Impact Water Bottle
Harvest Wheat Journal
Appreciation Plant Cube
Cheer Pin Bundle
This is just a sampling of what you too can do for your EAD celebrations. Make a day of it. Start your morning with a surprise for your team members, but don't stop there. Little surprises and events throughout the day will keep them engaged and feeling appreciated which will change their mood beyond the first few minutes of the day. Keep it lighthearted and fun and your employees will leave their day with a smile on their face!
